By Dianna Frid x Victoria Chang
This piece is one of three NFT manifestations of the printed Broadsheet called “2022 # 1.” This is Folio 1
Victoria Chang and Dianna Frid share an interest in the obituary form and its potentials. In June 2022, they were invited to present a performance lecture for Dia Art Foundation’s Poetry& series. For this live event, Chang wrote the poem featured in the broadsheet, which Frid conceptualized and designed. Frid fashioned out of aluminum foil several versions of a handmade alphabet. Using this handmade and subsequently digitized font, Frid transcribed Victoria’s poem (mostly) in reverse. The mirror insert has two functions, one is utilitarian, the other points to what might be on the ‘other side’ of what cannot be known.
