Planted Poems I

Drew Mailen

2020.

Planted Poems I describes the experience of being at the San Francisco Decompression event, a mini Burn gathering that took place around Halloween 2019. The poem’s speaker describes the energy of the night as a wave-like force, flowing against an incoming red tide from the direction of the Pacific Ocean. They see this event as a significant moment for their generation, a chance to create a counterculture and be disconnected from the world around them. The poem is characterized by its use of vivid imagery and its focus on the collective energy of the event.

The poem is printed on seeded paper, which turns into house plants with some water and sunlight. Minted in February 2020 as one of the first poems in NFT history created by an independent artist.
